One day, I decided to pick The Sims 3 back up after a long time away from it. Almost all my profiles have cheats enabled so I just chose the first profile, this one of course being the newest profile. Since it had been about a whole half year since I played I decided to reintroduce myself to the game via messing around and buying stuff I didn't need. After I got the hang of it I decided to actually try and play without cheats. So I kept playing the same profile all night and got a job and removed Spoot from my premises and inventory.
Slowly, subtly eerie things began to appear, things like, random dark figures with glowing eyes in the distance at night and paintings moving without me doing it. I passed all of these off as glitches that were just mistextured characters and random glitches where things move, all average things to see in a game. But, as I got along farther things got weirder. I had a kid with my in game wife and he started to go into the back yard and started doing what looked like socializing with the air. Now, don’t get me wrong, I instantly thought this weird but thought it was just a rare case of imaginary friends in the game.
So I went along playing more and more things started to seem out of place. My TV literally just started turning off while my family was watching it. And all the while, those same black figures appeared closer and subtly more eminent every night. And all of the same things kept occurring, my son talking to nothing, my TV, the figures. All of these things happening with my free-will meter set to low.
I eventually decided to stop playing for a while and began to play CoD. I eventually stopped because I absolutely suck at the game. So I picked up The Sims 3 again and loaded it up. What I loaded into if I had to guess was not any Sims game. When I started it the title screen had absolutely no happy tune, the only sound, was the rustling of the wind through the leaves and trees.
I loaded up the same game from earlier, but I was almost too scared to. I thought to myself, "This is looking a lot like one of those Creepypastas."
When the loading screen, without music may I add, finished up, I dropped my controller in fear. All my Sims, all of them, lay on the floor of my house, the way they do when they pass out, but there was no Zs above their head and in the center of the living room were the two shadowy figures with their glowing eyes. I then realized that they were my very first family on the Sims, the one profile, forgotten at the bottom of them all. So here is a word of warning to all of you. Make sure you get rid of those profiles you are bored with. Don’t forget them, because they never forget the player who abandoned them.
